Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking an onsite Controller in Indianapolis, IN. The role oversees all accounting and finance functions for a growing company with approximately $10 million in annual revenue, serving as the primary financial leader without direct reports.

The position requires 3–5+ years in controller roles, experience with full cycle accounting, payroll duties, and Sage ERP. It is a contract-to-hire, onsite role with a 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. schedule and a $34.00–$42.00 per hour pay range.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
• Experience handling full accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close.
• Hands-on journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Payroll duties processing and compliance.
• Experience with Sage ERP or ERP software; willing to learn Sage if not used.
• Strong understanding of GL and month-end close processes.
• High-volume invoice processing (at least 100 invoices per month).
• Detail-oriented and accurate in financial data and documentation.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all core accounting and finance functions for the organization without direct reports.
• Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Input and process at least 100 invoices per month with high accuracy.
• Oversee purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation.
• Handle payroll processing, including data entry, review, and compliance.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for accurate records.
• Balance spreadsheets and validate data across systems.
• Perform month-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and policies.
• Prepare and provide timely financial reports to leadership.
• Support budgeting and forecasting as needed.
• Assist HR tasks such as onboarding and benefits enrollment.
