Job summary

McGough Construction seeks a Safety Coordinator to oversee Environmental, Health & Safety on our Texas jobsites. You will partner with project teams to enforce safety policies, conduct inspections, and lead training to prevent incidents.

The ideal candidate has 4–7+ years of field safety experience, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, and bilingual Spanish/English, with CHST target and a valid driver's license. This on-site role offers cross-team collaboration and a strong safety culture within McGough.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 Year Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Engineering or related degree.
• Minimum 2 years of building construction safety experience or equivalent education and experience with knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
• OSHA 30 training
• First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED training
• CHST is required within 2 years of appointment to this position
• Demonstrated ability to identify known potential exposures and lead implementation of corrective actions
• Ability to pass customer required background and security screenings
• Hold a valid driver’s license with a clear record
• 4-7+ years of field-related experience
• Bilingual with the ability to communicate in both Spanish and English

Responsibilities

• Build positive working relationships with Safety Team, project staff and trade partner safety representatives.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of the overall project safety program
• Manage time and resource allocation to provide safety leadership to assigned project(s)
• Strive for continued growth of professional knowledge and skills to contribute to the team dynamic
• Stop unsafe practices, train on correct behavior, and recommend disciplinary action
• Enforce safety program and related policies and procedures and implement immediate corrective actions
• Assist project management personnel to ensure compliance with all safety, accident and fire programs, procedures and policies
• Hold pre-construction planning meetings to review site safety program and hazard analyses
• Provide technical and administrative direction
• Participate in OSHA inspections
• Research safety topics
• Conduct weekly jobsite walk-throughs and bi-weekly safety meetings
• Train employees using company safety programs
• Recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective procedures
• Investigate incidents and accidents
• Document all safety documentation in platform
• Perform jobsite inspections and prepare reports
• Review safety documentation for accuracy
• Track and identify safety trends
• Maintain site safety records
• Collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders
• Support Lean initiatives
