Job summary

Insight Global's client in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Project Cost Estimator to develop accurate construction cost estimates across the project lifecycle. You will analyze documents, monitor actual costs, and partner with cross-functional teams to improve profitability and estimating accuracy on onsite engagements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of estimating experience, proficiency with MS Office, and the ability to work onsite Monday–Friday in Boise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least two years of experience developing conceptual and detailed cost estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional communication and relationship-building skills.
• Self-starter who can work effectively with limited supervision.
• Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Nice-to-Have: NetSuite experience.
• Nice-to-Have: Bluebeam experience.
• Nice-to-Have: Experience in modular, multifamily, hotel, or light-commercial construction.
• Nice-to-Have: Experience creating and maintaining estimating databases or cost libraries.
• Nice-to-Have: Familiarity with value engineering and project cost-variance analysis.
• Nice-to-Have: Ability to quickly learn new software and estimating platforms.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to understand scope, requirements, and constructability.
• Prepare conceptual estimates, Rough Order of Magnitude pricing, detailed estimates, and cost models.
• Analyze labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
• Track actual production and project costs against original estimates and budgets.
• Conduct cost variance analysis and identify trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain drawings, revisions, specifications, bid documents, and other project records.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Business Development, Purchasing, Engineering, and Operations.
• Support value-engineering efforts to improve profitability, efficiency, and constructability.
• Maintain estimating databases, cost libraries, historical data, and standardized procedures.
• Participate in bid reviews, project handoffs, and post-project evaluations.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes, systems, and cross-functional collaboration.
