Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks an IT Networking Engineer to support mission-critical network infrastructure at the DOE Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX. The role focuses on maintaining and modernizing enterprise networks, ensuring high availability, security compliance, and performance optimization.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Cisco routing and switching experience, a DoD/DOE clearance or eligibility, and strong collaboration skills to support NOC/SOC activities and lifecycle management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of networking experience.
• Strong Cisco enterprise routing and switching experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise network operations and infra management.
• Knowledge of network security, access control, and best practices.
• Ability to work in highly regulated and secure environments.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless networks, and data centers.
• Troubleshoot network incidents and restore services per SLAs.
• Develop lifecycle management plans including upgrades, patching, maintenance windows, and rollback strategies.
• Monitor network health and performance; support NOC/SOC integration and telemetry reporting.
• Provide recommendations for network optimization, capacity planning, and modernization.
• Administer Cisco ISE and network access control solutions.
• Manage network access devices, authentication policies, and identity groups.
• Support VoIP administration, including adds/moves/changes.
• Manage wireless network infrastructure and access point deployments.
• Administer load balancers, DNS, DHCP, and IPAM systems.
• Maintain network diagrams, inventories, engineering docs, and change records.
• Support ServiceNow change management, RFCs, and CAB activities.
