Job summary

EMD Electronics in Tamaqua, PA seeks a motivated Chemical Engineer Co-op for a 6-month program starting January 4, 2027. The role is 100% onsite and requires active enrollment in an academic program.

A relocation stipend may be provided depending on distance. You will join the Process Development group in Hometown, PA, collaborating with Lab, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams on product development activities, scale-up, and process modeling to drive new offerings toward

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent.
• Hardworking, innovative, resourceful, organized, multi-tasker, and a self-starter.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning, starting up, and operating pilot production plants with engineers and operators.
• Developing project proposals with detailed scope, PFDs, P&IDs, cost estimates, drawings, and schedules.
• Screening synthesis routes with chemists, analyzing data, and evaluating unit operations for scale-up.
• Participating in Design Hazard Reviews.
• Collaborating with vendors and contractors on design and fabrication during project execution.
• Developing process models using Aspen Plus to simulate hydraulics and kinetics.
• Presenting results and project status to stakeholders.
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities for established processes.
