Job summary

The Telemetry Technician (U) at University of Miami Health System monitors patients' cardiac rhythms using continuous telemetry and communicates findings to the assigned nurse. Onsite role based in Miami, FL with responsibilities including recording strip data every 4 hours, recognizing dysrhythmias, ensuring alarms are active, and assisting with supply inventory and equipment checks.

A high school diploma, EKG certification, and BLS are required, with a preference for 1 year of related

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an EKG certification program.
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observes the cardiac rhythms on the monitors on a continuous basis during the shift.
• Recognizes interference and can correct the problem as observed by the nurse.
• Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to the appropriate staff.
• Records monitor strips on all patients every 4 hours.
• Documents PR interval, rate, and rhythm on the recorded strip every 4 hours.
• Assures that all telemetry monitor alarms are always on.
• Retrieves rhythms stored in memory upon request.
• Oversees supply inventory and reports malfunctioning equipment.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
• Other duties may be assigned to the above consistent with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the job.
