The Telemetry Technician (U) at the University of Miami provides indirect patient care by monitoring the telemetry of patients with continuous cardiac monitoring as ordered by the physician. The role communicates changes in heart rhythm to the assigned nurse and ensures alarms remain active.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, EKG certification, and AHA BLS. On-site work at UHealth Tower in Miami is required.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an EKG certification program.
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred.

Mansioni

• Observes the cardiac rhythms on monitors continuously during the shift.
• Recognizes interference and corrects it as observed by the nurse.
• Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to appropriate staff.
• Records monitor strips on all patients every 4 hours.
• Documents PR interval, rate, and rhythm on recorded strips every 4 hours.
• Ensures telemetry monitor alarms are always on.
• Retrieves rhythms stored in memory upon request.
• Oversees supply inventory and reports malfunctioning equipment.
• Adheres to ethics and asset-protection policies.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
