Job summary

Scott Bridge Company, Inc. is seeking a Project Safety Manager to lead a strong safety culture across heavy civil construction sites in Alabama.

The role focuses on developing safety plans, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and owner requirements. You will coordinate safety training, investigate incidents, maintain documentation, and support emergency response planning while collaborating with project teams and regulators.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required or ability to obtain within timeframe.
• Experience with heavy civil, bridge, marine, roadway, or DOT projects preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety culture across jobsite by coaching supervisors and workers on safe practices.
• Develop and maintain project safety plans, procedures, and job hazard analyses.
• Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits and track corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT project requirements, owner specs, and regulations.
• Coordinate safety orientations and training for employees and subcontractors.
• Participate in pre-activity planning for high-risk work (cranes, rigging, etc).
• Investigate incidents and near-misses; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain safety documentation: inspections, training, incident reports, permits.
• Coordinate with project managers, foremen, subcontractors, inspectors, and regulators on safety.
• Support emergency response planning and drills.
• Other duties as assigned.
