Qualifications

• City of Seattle Steam Engineer's License Grade 2 is required.
• 3+ years boiler operation and maintenance experience is required.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift.
• Must be able to work at heights with fall protection equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate boilers and related auxiliary equipment.
• Read gauges, meters, and charts to monitor boiler operations.
• Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels.
• Adjust valves to control water, air, and fuel in boilers.
• Fire coal furnaces or feed boilers using gas feeds or oil pumps.
• Inspect and maintain equipment for efficiency.
• Check safety devices and perform environmental checks.
• Record data and logs of operation, maintenance, and safety.
