Job summary

Peak Behavioral Health in Las Cruces, NM seeks a Behavioral Health Associate I to work under a licensed nurse, monitor patient behaviors, provide continuous care, and model professional conduct. You will assist with daily living activities, supervise groups, document data, and respond in crisis or medical emergencies as needed.

The role requires CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or more experience with the population served preferred.
• Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensures wellbeing and provides a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment under supervision.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and attending groups.
• Monitors patients and reports significant observations to the treatment team.
• Facilitates patient educational-rehabilitative groups covering social and coping skills.
• Takes and records vital signs and communicates changes to the clinical team.
• Charts patient records timely and accurately.
• Applies de-escalation techniques and assists with restraints if necessary.
• Assists with unit cleanup, admissions, discharge planning, and paperwork.
• Transports or coordinates transport for patients as required.
• Receives/uses shift reports to plan the next shift and ensure continuity.
• Promotes recreational activities and patient participation in groups.
• Engages with patients to help achieve treatment goals and activities.
