Job summary

Westinghouse Electric - USA in Newington, NH is seeking a skilled Fabrication Mechanic II for 100% onsite work. You will read and interpret drawings, weld metal assemblies, and finish interiors of large forgings with stainless steel layers.

Responsibilities include setting up automated welding, grinding to spec, deburring, and preparing shipments. Requires ASME experience, two welding processes, and hands-on fabrication for heavy components.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of fabrication experience or at least one year as a Westinghouse Newington Fabrication Mechanic II.
• Experience reading blueprints, sketches, or building plans; hands-on experience laying out large and small components.
• Qualified and proficient in all welding positions on carbon and stainless steel using two welding processes.
• Proficient with plasma cutting, carbon arc, oxy‑acetylene burning/cutting, and grinding of specified materials.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and welding procedures to fit and weld metal assemblies with accuracy.
• Tackle internal seams inside large fabrications with sound weld practice and technique.
• Grind welds to meet engineering specifications and final finishes.
• Prepare interior of large metal forgings to accept stainless-steel layer by precision grinding.
• Set up and monitor automated welding on interior and exterior seams of large components.
• Deburr edges and machined surfaces using hand tools for clean finishes.
• Lay out and fit cylinders, plates, and cones to exact lengths and angles per drawings.
• Operate overhead lifts to safely position and handle materials.
• Perform SMAW and GTAW welding and various thermal cutting/heating processes.
• Prepare finished product for shipment with padding, labeling, and packing per orders.
