Job summary

Qualified Staffing is seeking a Field Fabrication Technician to support a leading North American heat-treat equipment manufacturer. This role involves welding, fabricating, and field servicing at customer sites across the USA, with 50-75% travel.

You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, read blueprints, and assemble equipment using various tools. The ideal candidate has strong welding experience, good blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work well in a team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Weld, repair, and fabricate equipment or machinery.
• Fabricate and dismantle parts using cutting torch or other equipment.
• Field fabricating, modify, repair, or assemble at customer site.
• Bolt parts to basic assembly units and align components.
• Use measuring tools to set clearances between moving parts.
• Establish centerlines with levels and transit.
• Align machines with hoists, jacks, tools, lasers.
• Assemble machines and fasten to foundations or structures.
• Lay out mounting holes and drill with power drill.
• Position steel beams to support bedplates per drawings.
• Troubleshoot equipment and mechanical systems.
• Connect power units and test mechanical operation.
• Provide progress reports and issue tracking.
• Travel domestically 50-75% or more; assist in other field tasks.
