Job summary

RAND seeks an Alternate Facility Security Officer (A/FSO) to support the Facility Security Officer in protecting government classified information and ensuring program compliance at the Santa Monica, CA office. The role involves document control, personnel security, and security operations under 32 CFR Part 117.

The A/FSO interfaces with staff and government officials, can act autonomously, and must pass required training (FSO Processing Facilities, Insider Threat) within six months.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of FSO training for Processing Facilities within 6 months.
• Requires completion of Insider Threat courses within 6 months.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 within 6 months.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist the FSO in ensuring programs and procedures for handling secure materials comply with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM).
• Serve as Document Control Specialist and maintain accountability for classified documents and media; process transfers and destruction records.
• Conduct briefings/debriefings and maintain briefing statements and security forms.
• Create, send, receive Visit Authorization Requests and maintain DISS records.
• Interface with staff and government representatives on investigations to ensure compliance with NISPOM.
• Process personnel security information via DISS and maintain accurate security records.
• Assist with setting up for classified meetings and processing security clearances and visitor access.
• Assist with developing training materials.
• Serve as Alternate COMSEC Custodian.
