Job summary

University of the Incarnate Word invites part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer in Social Studies Education in the Dreeben School of Education for spring 2027. Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Education or related field and at least one year of literacy teaching experience in a Texas school system, with Texas Social Studies certification

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education, Social Studies, or related field.
• One year of literacy teaching experience in a Texas school system.
• Texas Teacher Certification related to elementary/secondary social studies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved syllabi; deliver interactive lectures.
• Administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
• Collaborate with department faculty to meet curriculum outcomes.
• Be available outside class to help students learn (1 hour per 3-hour class).
• Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and provide timely feedback on student performance.
• Maintain professional relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
• Attend meetings with the department chair as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
