Options for Youth is seeking an English Language Development teacher to support English Learners in a primarily remote role with 10% in-person events in Southern California. The ideal candidate holds a California clear or preliminary single-subject credential and English Learner Authorization, will manage a caseload, administer ELPAC, and collaborate with teams to move students toward English proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with second language learners and second language acquisition.
  • Valid California clear or preliminary single-subject teaching credential required.
  • English Learner Authorization (ELA1 or similar) required.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and instruct English Learners and Standard English learners with ELD support.
  • Manage a caseload of 50-75 students and provide weekly interventions and progress reports.
  • Assess and report academic progress to leadership; track EL enrollment monthly and create action plans.
  • Develop individualized academic plans for each EL student and create course outlines per state requirements.
  • Administer ELPAC tests to evaluate pupil progress and record results.
  • Provide pull-out and additional support to LTELs in AR/ SGI classes; facilitate PLCs for AR teachers.
