Job summary

The University of California - Irvine is seeking instructors to teach the Montessori Teacher Education Program's 40-hour Preventative Health for Practices EC course online. This part-time, course-by-course contract is not a faculty position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution or related degree.
• Professional experience and knowledge related to healthcare and early childhood education.
• Must be committed to high academic standards and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and/or update course syllabi in consultation with the Education Programs Director.
• Prepare and deliver online course materials and learning assessments.
• Utilize the Canvas LMS as the course support platform.
• Communicate teaching objectives and outcomes to students and outline grading policies.
• Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes and assign grades.
• Post final grades to the transcript system by deadlines.
• Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner.
• Handle inquiries about final grades and consult with the Director as needed.
• Stay current with professional knowledge in the field of practice.
• Complete mandatory training programs by UC Irvine deadlines.
• Complete hiring paperwork, submit updated syllabi, post bio/photo on the DCE site, sign contracts, order texts, and coordinate AV/classroom needs.
• Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies for domestic and international students.
• Provide opportunities for students to review final exams/papers for up to 13 months.
• Use subject-matter expertise and guest speakers to enhance the curriculum.
• Design interactive classroom activities to engage participants and reinforce learning.
• Update materials periodically and monitor course evaluations for improvements.
