Job summary

ACCEL Schools seeks an online teacher for the Virtual Preparatory Academy of Washington, serving as the teacher of record and primary instructor. You will deliver live lessons, set up courses in the LMS, monitor progress, and communicate with families to support student achievement and social-emotional growth.

Qualifications

• Current state teaching license in appropriate content area.
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Preferred two years’ experience teaching.
• Ability to pass federal and state background checks.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the teacher of record and primary instructor.
• Deliver highly effective live lessons via web conference based on student need.
• Complete course setup for each course within the Learning Management System.
• Monitor student progress in asynchronous courses and provide feedback/grade assignments daily.
• Track and maintain contact with each student.
• Collaborate with Principal to create and deliver Progress Reports of Students.
• Review student level data to inform instructional adjustments.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Implement research-based best practices in synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
• Create a joyful, caring classroom environment for all students.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching into daily lessons and interactions.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth.
• Participate in planning non-instructional activities and travel for state testing.
• Collaborate respectfully with colleagues.
• Travel to support required face-to-face state testing annually.
