Job summary

The University of Chicago's Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures (ISAC) seeks a temporary instructor to deliver an online, non-degree continuing education class on the history of West Asia and/or North Africa. The role focuses on robust, undergraduate/graduate level instruction and online engagement for lifelong learners.

The candidate will conduct 8-week sessions, prepare syllabi, post readings on CANVAS, and ensure recordings are available for remote access.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in history, archaeology, or a related field required.
• Advanced degree (PhD) preferred.
• Experience delivering lectures to adult learners online.
• Experience using Zoom or similar platforms and Canvas for course materials.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach one online 8-week course on West Asia/North Africa history.
• Meet with students via Zoom for two hours weekly.
• Deliver lectures with PowerPoint suitable for undergraduate/graduate levels.
• Develop and post syllabus, readings, and materials on Canvas.
• Record sessions for later access and provide foundational knowledge to adult learners.
