Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Teaching Assistant in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire to support children aged 5 to 18 who are out of school. The role involves one-to-one support in homes, learning centres and community settings, with sessions up to 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday in term time.

You will assist with reading, writing and maths, follow tutor-planned interventions and help pupils engage with online vocational courses.

Qualifications

Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant or Cover Supervisor in a primary or secondary school.
Confidence supporting English and maths up to secondary level.
Experience with SEND or pupils with behavioural needs (desirable).
Availability Monday to Friday during term time, full-time or part-time.
A full UK driving licence and your own car with business insurance.
A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) is welcome but not essential.

Responsibilities

Support pupils one-to-one with reading, writing and maths, from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4.
Deliver tasks and interventions planned by tutors and note how pupils respond.
Help pupils with online vocational courses and practical sessions.
Model classroom routines to prepare pupils for a return to school.
Record attendance and progress after each session.
Liaise with mentors, families and schools about each pupil's next steps.
