Job summary

The Lansing School District is seeking a Specialized Assistant to provide one-on-one support for students, often with disabilities, and to assist teachers in keeping lessons engaging and safe.

This role emphasizes building relationships with students and families to ensure a welcoming learning environment, supporting students with special education needs, and maintaining safety and engagement. The position is 0.875 FTE at $21.42–$25.66 per hour.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 60 college credits or ETS Paraprofessional Exam is required.
• Experience with RTI and small-group instruction is preferred.
• Understanding of IEPs and desire to become a certified teacher long term is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate passion for working with students, especially in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Prioritize tasks as assigned by teachers and school leaders.
• Ensure safety of students on caseload.
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from leaders and PD sessions.
• Build relationships with students and parents to create a safe, welcoming learning environment.
• Perform other duties to support Lansing School District mission.
