Job summary

SiSTEM in Houston is seeking experienced math tutors to work one-on-one with students across K–12, helping them build deep understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence in math.

You’ll tailor sessions to each student’s needs, align with their academic roadmap, and communicate progress with families as appropriate. Tutors set their own rates and keep 100% of earnings while using SiSTEM’s scheduling and tracking tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in math.
• Deep expertise in at least one math level (elementary to calculus).
• Experience working with motivated students in honors, Pre‑AP, AP, or test prep settings.
• Clear, patient communication and ability to make math click for students who think they’re not a math person.
• Professional reliability and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with students in grades K–12 to provide focused math instruction at their level.
• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just finish homework.
• Build number sense, problem-solving strategies, and mathematical confidence.
• Identify and close gaps in foundational skills that are holding students back.
• Align sessions with each student’s broader academic roadmap using SiSTEM’s planning tools.
• Communicate progress and strategies with families when appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.
