Job summary

SiSTEM is seeking experienced math tutors to work in the Houston area, including Tomball, TX. Tutors partner with families to build real understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence in math from elementary through AP calculus and beyond.

We welcome specialists in any level, from elementary to AP Calculus, and emphasize personalized plans, reliable communication with families, and ongoing professional growth within SiSTEM’s platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in math.
• Deep expertise in at least one math level listed above.
• Experience with motivated students in honors, Pre-AP, AP, gifted, or test prep settings.
• Track record of helping students improve grades, confidence, or conceptual mastery.
• Clear, patient communication and ability to make math click for students who think they're not a math person.
• Professional reliability.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with students in grades K–12 to provide focused math instruction at their level.
• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just homework completion.
• Build number sense, problem-solving strategies, and mathematical confidence.
• Identify and close gaps in foundational skills that hold students back.
• Align sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap using SiSTEM's planning tools.
• Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.
