Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an Oncology Veterinary Technician to support oncologists in treating and monitoring cancer patients. The role requires strong communication, compassion, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced specialty hospital.

Start pay ranges from $20.00 to $40.50 per hour, with advancement through competency levels. Responsibilities include physical exams, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, chemotherapy setup and administration, and client communication.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience in a specialty veterinary hospital.
• Strong communication skills and compassion are a must.
• Self-motivated and able to multi-task efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs (heart rate, pulse, CRT, mucous membranes, temperature, resp rate/effort).
• Understand normal vital and lab parameters and alert doctor to abnormalities.
• Phlebotomy.
• Place peripheral IV catheter in cephalic vein.
• Calculate basic medical math.
• Set up materials for chemotherapy administration.
• Safely dispense and administer oral chemotherapy agents.
• Safely dispense, reconstitute and administer SC/IM chemotherapy agents.
• Check chemotherapy dosages and calculations.
• Admit Oncology patients and obtain thorough history.
• Discharge Oncology patients with client education on post-treatment care.
