Job summary

Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC) in Oakdale, MN seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Veterinary Assistant to join our Oncology Service and support pets and families facing cancer.

You’ll perform advanced nursing tasks, assist with chemotherapy, coordinate care across teams, and guide clients through treatment decisions, while maintaining meticulous records and upholding safety.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician or veterinary assistant with interest in oncology.
• Strong venipuncture and IV catheter skills, and medication calculations.
• Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced oncology setting.
• Excellent communication with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care for Oncology patients from intake to follow-up.
• Prepare and administer IV, oral, injectable chemotherapy treatments.
• Verify dosages and treatment protocols; monitor for adverse reactions.
• Assist with biopsies, imaging, and sedated procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical records and coordinate care with multiple teams.
• Supervise Veterinary Assistants in accordance with Minnesota requirements.
