Job summary

Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Edinburg, TX seeks a Nurse Aide to provide general clerical, equipment and patient care support on patient care units. You will respond to communications, handle EMR entries, stock supplies, transport specimens, and assist with room and equipment management.

The ideal candidate is graduate from a Nurse Aide School with Nurse Aide Certification and CPR, and will complete NCI or DHS-equivalent training within 6 months of hire. This is an on-site hospital position.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Nurse Aide School.
• Nurse Aide Certification.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) continuously maintained.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or DHS equivalent within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Maintains confidentiality at all times and adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
• Performs clerical duties and basic EMR entries; records patient data.
• Stocks supplies, checks expirations, orders supplies, cleans equipment and toys.
• Transports blood-borne pathogens or specimens to/from units; prepares instruments for processing; handles infectious waste as required.
• Measures and records urine collection devices, empties bedpans, orients patients and families, and transports patients for tests or procedures.
