Job summary

Pacific Cancer Care in Monterey, CA is seeking a Triage Registered Nurse (RN) to manage chemotherapy side effects and oncological emergencies through telephone and in-person triage, determine optimal patient management, coordinate follow-up, and educate patients per protocols.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in nursing; BSN preferred; MSN a plus.
Current California RN license.
BLS certification.
ONS Oncology Symptom Management (complete within 6 months of hire).
ONS/ONCC® Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate; preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage chemotherapy side effects and oncological emergencies via telephone triage and in-person assessment.
Determine appropriate care setting (ER, clinic, homecare) and coordinate follow-up care.
Prescribe and communicate treatment plans and patient teaching per established protocols.
Triages phone calls according to acuity; provide sound nursing advice/medical response same day.
Notify MD of urgent findings for rapid response; identify patients needing ER transfer.
Coordinate referrals to external providers and ensure services are established.
