Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute is seeking a qualified Triage Nurse to provide oncology-specific triage over the phone and connections to care for patients, families, and caregivers. The role emphasizes symptom management, education, and coordination within a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires RN licensure (multistate or FL), ADN (BSN preferred), and BLS certification, with oncology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse multistate or Florida single state licensure required
• Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, triages oncology patient calls regarding treatment, surgery, and appointment information
• Monitor and provide patient symptom management
• Manage high risk, complex patient care to minimize ED and inpatient readmission
• Assess barriers to care to address patient, caregiver, or family needs to achieve optimal patient outcome
• Provide patient-centered ongoing education, resources, and referrals to internal and external resources to patient and caregivers
• Assist the physician and PA-C/ARNP with patient/family interactions to resolve clinical issues
• Complete requested clinical documentation as needed
• Establish professional boundaries with patients and care team in collaboration with manager
• Facilitate communication among the care team to prevent fragmented care
• Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patient condition
• Provide education and direction on chemotherapy, radiation, infusion, and post-surgery
• Adhere to Florida State Board of Nursing rules and regulations
• Provide coverage for infusion floor/shot room as needed
