Job Description Summary

This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting key accounts in Jersey City, Morristown, New Brunswick, Newark, Staten Island, NY, and the surrounding area.

The Oncology Sales Specialist will handle delivering sales performance and promoting products within the oncology, hematology, or rare disease portfolio of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies globally and a pioneer in oncology. You should possess a deep level of commercial insight, curiosity, a passion for lifelong learning, leadership among peers, proactive customer service, and familiarity with digital tools to leverage customer and data insights for improved sales in competitive markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate cross-functionally across geographies as ONE team, demonstrating influential leadership to achieve shared goals.
  2. Show self-awareness, enthusiasm for learning, ability to inspire, willingness to challenge norms, and embrace change to optimize execution.
  3. Deliver clear, compelling messages to customers, handle objections effectively, and close calls with actionable commitments to influence behavior.
  4. Maintain a thorough understanding of the territory's market landscape, competitors, segments, product data, and anticipate environmental changes to optimize strategies.
  5. Develop and implement call plans to meet sales goals, enhance access, and promote a sophisticated product portfolio to a knowledgeable audience.
  6. Understand the local healthcare landscape, including EMRs, pathways, and claims processing, and develop account-level strategies accordingly.
  7. Utilize sales data reporting tools to identify trends and combine insights to explore growth opportunities.
  8. Leverage social media platforms to gather customer insights and enhance tactical execution and customer experience.
  9. Adapt seamlessly between digital and non-digital settings, employing non-personal tools for customized customer interactions.
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in specialty pharmaceuticals, biotech, or a similar sales role within the last 5 years.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions, communicate complex clinical information, and succeed in large account sales within a matrix environment.
  • Self-motivated with analytical skills to prioritize and apply relevant information ethically and effectively.
  • Reside within the territory or within 50 miles for daily commuting; able to travel 60-80% within the broad geographic area; valid driver's license required.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Experience with various therapeutic areas, disease states, account management, and product launches.
  • Knowledge of patient services, market access, reimbursement pathways, and medical calling on healthcare professionals for sophisticated products.
Leveling Guidelines:

The role will be filled at a level matching experience:

  • Oncology Representative: 2+ years
  • Oncology Specialist: 4+ years
  • Senior Oncology Specialist: 6+ years

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range at start is approximately $92,800 to $139,200 for Oncology Representative, $130,400 to $195,600 for Oncology Specialist, and $144,000 to $216,000 for Senior Oncology Specialist. Final pay depends on various factors, including location and experience. Benefits include bonuses, stock units, medical, 401(k), paid leave, and more.

Additional Information:

The role requires successful completion of initial training, including home study, within eight hours per day and forty hours per week. No visa sponsorship is provided. Please only apply if the location is accessible for you.
