Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) PRN Oncology. The role provides professional nursing care, conducts assessments, aids exams and treatments, educates patients, and maintains medical records.

The RN collaborates with physicians and the care team to ensure compassionate, quality outcomes and supports leadership activities such as precepting and unit governance participation. The position requires 2 years RN experience, Texas licensure within 60 days, BLS, and chemotherapy

Qualifications

• Two years registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment
• Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days if establishing Texas residency
• BLS certification (AHA)
• Chemotherapy certification: FCIA or ONS-CICC, or ONS-CICR, or ONS-FCBA (current incumbents have 6 months) within 4 months

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates skills to safely perform assigned job; participates in orientation and competency checks
• Communicates effectively with patients, families and interprofessional team
• Leads unit initiatives, serves as preceptor or charge nurse as needed
• Maintains accurate medical records and collaborates with physicians to coordinate care

Education

Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section
