Clinical Case Educator – Registered Nurse (RN) | Oncology | Hybrid – Cary, NC

Cary, NC | Hybrid | $41/hr | 3-Month Contract + Possible Extension/Conversion

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with 4–5 years of acute care nursing experience and oncology nursing experience for a Clinical Case Educator opportunity in Cary, North Carolina. This patient-focused role combines oncology nursing, specialty medication education, symptom assessment, and telephone-based patient support.

Candidates must live within commutable distance of Cary, NC and be available for onsite training and ongoing hybrid work.

• Location: Cary, NC – 11800 Weston Parkway
• Training: Onsite for the first 3–4 weeks
• Duration: 3-month contract with possible extension
• Pay: $41.00/hour
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM; occasional Saturdays
• Potential Conversion: Opportunity for full-time employment

What You'll Do

As a Clinical Case Educator RN, you will provide clinical education, medication counseling, and ongoing support to patients and caregivers participating in specialty medication therapy programs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Counsel and educate patients regarding specialty drug therapies.
• Educate patients and caregivers on medication adherence, symptom management, potential side effects, and ongoing therapy.
• Assess patient-reported symptoms and provide appropriate nursing education and clinical guidance.
• Support patient management programs through scheduled calls, medication management, drug counseling, and provider collaboration.
• Serve as a communication link between patients and healthcare providers to support continuity and longevity of therapy.
• Follow contracted and accrediting requirements based on applicable drug specifications.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
• Maintain patient demographics, medical histories, and records in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
• Identify and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) to applicable manufacturers, the FDA, and/or other governing authorities.
• Provide specialty drug verification and education.
• Collaborate with Pharmacy Support teams to support timely and accurate delivery of specialty medications.

Required Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license with either a Compact State license or primary North Carolina licensure.
• Associate degree, bachelor's degree, higher degree in Nursing, or accredited nursing diploma.
• 4–5 years of acute care nursing experience.
• Oncology nursing experience, including experience supporting oncology patients, therapies, and/or treatment settings.
• Experience educating patients/caregivers regarding medication adherence, symptom management, and potential adverse events.
• Ability to assess patient symptoms and provide nursing education and clinical guidance by telephone.Ability to obtain nursing licensure in all states and U.S. territories serviced within 3 months of employment through supported licensing programs; minimal application guidelines apply.
• Strong computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret practice standards, professional journals, technical procedures, and government standards/regulations.
• Ability to attend onsite training and work onsite in Cary as required.
• Must reside within a commutable distance of Cary, NC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with oncology therapies/settings such as oral oncolytics, infusion therapy, hematology, and/or solid tumors.
• Telehealth or telephone-based nursing experience.
• Specialty medication or medication management experience.
• Motivational interviewing experience.
