Overview

Our client, a Global Fortune 50 organization and one of the world’s largest distributors of healthcare systems, medical supplies & pharmaceutical products, seeks an accomplished Oncology Registered Nurse.

Base pay range: This range is provided by Amerit Consulting. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $39.00/hr - $40.00/hr

Work location: 11800 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC 27513 (Onsite role; Saturday coverage is remote)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Onsite) || Occasional Saturday (Quarterly Rotation – Remote)

Pathways: Cross-training opportunities with other nurse teams and pathway to a full-time role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide telephonic counseling and education to new and existing oncology patients regarding specialty drug therapies.
  • This is a non-direct patient care role (no home visits) that focuses on patient education, adherence support, and regulatory compliance.
  • Counsel and educate oncology patients on specialty drug therapies via inbound and outbound phone calls.
  • Educate patients on potential and current side effects, treatment alternatives, and therapy adherence.
  • Ensure adherence to contracted and accrediting regulations as outlined by drug specifications.
  • Accurately document patient interactions in the EMR using good documentation practices and compliance standards.
  • Identify, document, and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) to the manufacturer, FDA, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional nursing teams, with opportunities for cross-training and potential transition to a full-time role.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Must have bachelor’s degree
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current, unrestricted multi-state compact license (NC required) and ability to obtain additional state licensures if needed.
  • Must have 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of acute inpatient care preferred.
  • Must have Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in oncology, chemotherapy administration, or pharmacovigilance
  • Oncology certification preferred (not required).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and comfortable with EMR systems.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written), with the ability to educate patients effectively and conduct motivational interviewing.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret practice standards, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Experienced and confident in oncology/hematology nursing care.
  • Self-sufficient, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused, and effective in telephonic patient engagement.
