The Role: Oncology Nurse Navigator (RN)

The Oncology RN will provide comprehensive care to patients with cancer, administering treatments, managing symptoms, and offering emotional support to patients and their families.

The Opportunity:

MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care (HACCC) in Augusta, Maine is a proud partner of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network, a coordinated system of care with the support of the Harold Alfond Foundation. The HACCC staff cares for more than 12 percent of Maine's cancer population and sees more than 7,000 individuals with a cancer diagnosis annually, including more than 1,200 newly diagnosed cases.

What You'll Do:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Evaluates the needs of the patient and/or family and provides support, appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Collaborates, as needed, across disciplines to coordinate appropriate patient services. Effectively delegates to ancillary personnel. May precept nursing students or new hires.
  • Executes the plan of care for the oncology patient including medication administration and symptom management. Communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Your Qualifications:

  • Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion, required
  • Prior Oncology RN work experience and certification, preferred
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate and excel in a healthcare environment with many inherent stressors.
