Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full‑time Retail Pharmacy Technician Trainee to assist the pharmacist in operating the specialty retail pharmacy and associated telepharmacies. In this role you will dispense oral oncology medications in‑office, manage inventories, and support patient financial assistance while following infection‑control procedures.

The position emphasizes accurate record‑keeping, medication safety, and collaboration with clinicians to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current or application for Illinois Technician License.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification or plan to obtain within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate patient records and screen for drug interactions in the pharmacy system.
• Process data entry, order processing, billing, and fulfillment for oncology prescriptions.
• Submit and manage prior authorizations with clinical staff for quick turnaround.
• Research copay assistance and help with patient financial assistance programs.
• Communicate with providers and nursing staff to clarify prescription details and dispense medications.
