Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a Pharmacy Technician (Admixture) to join our team. The role focuses on preparing sterile IV admixtures and chemotherapy under supervision, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and protocol adherence.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of pharmacy experience including sterile compounding (IV admixture/chemotherapy).
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Solid math and dosage calculation skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to interpret prescriptions and follow protocols accurately.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and compound medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy, under supervision.
• Review medication orders for accuracy, completeness, and authorization.
• Verify insurance approvals before preparing medications.
• Accurately calculate dosages and conversions (metric/apothecary).
• Maintain inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
• Keep detailed logs (temperature, controlled substances, protocol drugs).
• Ensure OSHA/safety guidelines for handling and disposal.
• Clean and maintain sterile compounding environments (hoods, equipment).
• Stay current with new medications and protocols.
• Travel between locations as needed.
