Job summary

UT MD Anderson's Lymphoma and Myeloma Center seeks an experienced Clinical Nurse, Outpatient to coordinate clinical and research aspects of patient care with the multidisciplinary team and external sponsors. The role emphasizes safety, patient education, and protocol management within ambulatory cancer care.

Required: Texas RN license, BLS/CPR; ACLS/PALS as specified by department. Oncology experience preferred; BSN encouraged.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if working in ASC Post Anesthesia (600761).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200).

Responsibilities

• Clinical: Use the nursing process and nursing standards to prevent or manage actual/potential patient problems in the ambulatory setting.
• Clinical: Manage clinic duties in collaboration with medical staff to facilitate and optimize the care of the patient.
• Clinical: Participate in nursing and medical research components and requirements for protocol management.
• Clinical: Incorporate knowledge of research components and requirements for protocol management.
• Clinical: Utilize knowledge of specific cancers and cancer risks, chemotherapy regimens and treatment options to provide information to patient/family.
• Administrative: Use organization skills to assure continuity of care in collaboration with other disciplines through appropriate planning, education, and coordination of services.
• Administrative: Act on behalf of patients and family to ensure care that is safe and appropriate with consideration for values and human rights.
• Financial: Serve as protocol manager for financial parameters of the protocol, plus coordination, evaluation and monitoring of patients in clinical trials.
• Financial: Serve as liaison between patients, external sponsors and clinical trial investigators.
• Oral & Written Communication: Identify patient/family learning needs and ensure they are met.
• Oral & Written Communication: Perform on-site and on-call duties, acting as primary contact for ambulatory care needs.
• Other Duties as assigned.
