Job summary

Island Health is seeking a Registered Nurse Navigator for the Oncology Clinic. This part-time, on-site role focuses on care coordination, patient education, and resource navigation for cancer patients from evaluation through treatment and survivorship.

You will work with physicians, nursing staff, and external partners to streamline care, reduce barriers, and support financial and social services access. A solid oncology background and leadership in navigation are essential.

Qualifications

• Washington State RN license required.
• BSN required; MSN or advanced oncology education preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressive oncology nursing experience.
• Oncology Nurse Navigator certification (AONN+) or equivalent within one year of hire; existing certification preferred.
• Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary initiatives and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial screening and ongoing assessment of patients and families for barriers to care.
• Leads and maintains accountability for the oncology navigation program and metrics.
• Develops and maintains standardized navigation processes and workflows with clinical leadership.
• Provides clinical guidance, education, and mentorship to staff.
• Collaborates with multiple departments and external partners to coordinate care.
• Assists uninsured or underinsured patients in identifying financial and community resources.
• Documents interactions clearly and maintains confidentiality.
• Participates in multidisciplinary tumor boards and care conferences.
