Job summary

Mercy South Sindelar Cancer Center in St. Louis is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Navigator to guide oncology patients. You will coordinate care across diagnosis through survivorship, educate families, and collaborate with oncologists and the care team to ensure timely, high-quality care.

This full-time role requires a nursing degree, active RN license in Missouri, 2-3 years oncology experience, BLS, and preferred BSN. OCN/ACLS may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• 2-3 years of nursing experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Oncology, infusion, hematology/oncology, care coordination, case management, or nurse navigator experience.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification or willingness to obtain.
• Chemotherapy/biotherapy experience.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and navigate care for oncology patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survivorship.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, procedures, side effect management, and available support resources.
• Facilitate communication between patients, providers, infusion services, imaging departments, specialty providers, and support teams.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans.
• Assist with referrals, appointment coordination, treatment scheduling, and transitions of care.
• Monitor patient progress and proactively identify and address barriers to care.
• Provide emotional support and connect patients and families with community resources and financial assistance programs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC and other clinical systems.
• Track patient outcomes and quality metrics to support evidence-based practice and program development.
• Serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, providers, and staff throughout the continuum of cancer care.
