Position Details
- Full-time, permanent
- Seeking a medical oncologist with breast cancer sub-specialization to join four breast medical oncologists. The busy breast service sees over 600 new cases of breast cancer annually and is cared for by a multidisciplinary team of fellowship-trained breast surgeons, medical, and radiation oncologists specializing in breast cancer. The clinical team is well-supported by fellowship-trained pathologists and radiologists, reconstructive surgeons, a mature genetic counseling program, and an active nurse navigator program. Formal programs in survivorship, high-risk care, patient education, and breast rehabilitation are in development. The hospital actively participates in clinical trials and health disparities research and is a main member of SWOG and NRG. It is the largest teaching hospital in the University of Connecticut medical school system, with medical residents and oncology fellows in training.
- The Cancer Institute oversees all oncologic care across a seven-hospital healthcare system serving a third of Connecticut's population. Since 2014, it has partnered strategically with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) to ensure that cancer patients in Connecticut receive care quality, access to emerging technologies, and clinical trial opportunities comparable to those in New York.
- The Breast Disease Management Team (DMT) is a multidisciplinary group governing quality, research, and innovative program development in breast cancer across the healthcare system. The team collaborates closely with its MSK counterpart.
- The Breast Tumor Board meets weekly to discuss patient management.
- Hospitalist teams handle inpatient care, with oncology consult services provided by medical oncology.
- Opportunities exist to participate in teaching, clinical research, and quality/outcomes research.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience practicing within a multidisciplinary team model for breast patients
- Academic achievement in clinical trials or quality improvement is highly desirable
- Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology
- Board Certified in Internal Medicine
- Eligible for licensure in Connecticut
