Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for the KUCC - East clinic in Lee's Summit. Qualifications

• High School graduate
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or at least one year as a Medical Assistant or CCMA or NCRMA certification
• Basic typing and word processing skills

Responsibilities

• Schedules tests, obtains films/reports, and prepares lab specimens.
• Assists physicians/nurses with procedures and examinations per competency checklist.
• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate patient care and record history elements.
• Submits prescriptions/refills electronically or by phone/fax to outpatient pharmacies.
• Ensures data is recorded in medical records for completed procedures.
• Maintains and organizes medical records and logs, and manages supply inventories.
• Performs clerical duties: greet patients, registration, scheduling, and charges processing.
• Performs simple procedures as directed and documents vital signs and screening measures.
• Maintains professional, clinical, and technical competencies for the unit/department.
