Job summary

Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center in Maywood is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to accurately compound medication admixtures and manage IV preparations. You will handle hazardous drugs following USP 800 and NIOSH, while maintaining a compliant clean room and performing QA activities.

The role involves rotating morning starts (6:30–8:30) and one Saturday every eight weeks, with opportunities for rotation to off-site locations. Illinois licensure and certification are required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Technician.
• CPhT or ExCPT required for technicians licensed after 2007.
• Newly licensed technicians have 2 years to obtain CPhT and register.
• Pharmacy Technician Training Program completion preferred.
• Student enrolled in a College of Pharmacy preferred.
• Experience in a customer service pharmacy environment preferred.
• Ability to accurately compound admixtures under USP 797 and organizational policies.
• Ability to handle hazardous drugs per USP 800 and NIOSH recommendations.
• Maintain clean room standards, QA monitoring, and hazardous drug waste disposal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and safely compound medication admixtures per USP 797.
• Handle hazardous drugs per USP 800 and NIOSH guidance.
• Maintain the clean room for sterile compounding.
• Perform routine quality assurance monitoring.
• Comply with hazardous drug waste disposal guidelines.
• Perform other tasks assigned by supervising pharmacist.
• Work at Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center in Maywood with possible rotation to off-site locations.
• Perform IV compounding and inventory management for the majority of time.
• Rotate among start times: 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m.
• Work one Saturday approximately every eight weeks.
