Job summary

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Admixture Technician to assist with IV preparations for oncology patients, including preparing and mixing chemotherapeutic and biologic agents. You will calculate BSA and dose-based values, ensure sterility, and follow safety protocols to minimize exposure.

Applicants should have Illinois Technician License and National Pharmacy Technician Certification or plans to obtain within 90 days; two years of pharmacy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold Illinois Technician License and national certification or plan to obtain within 90 days.
• Two years pharmacy experience preferred.
• Preparation of IV admixtures and/or chemotherapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Calculates BSA, dose basis calculations and other protocol-based measurements.
• Prepares and mixes chemotherapeutic and biologic agents for administration with strict sterility and safe handling.
• Follow OSHA guidelines and participate in ongoing oncology/hematology education.
• Document clinical interventions and adverse events.
• Ensure compliance with policies to maintain a safe admixture environment.
• Assist with medication orders and compounding under supervision.
• Admix drugs as ordered, verify patient information and physician authorization.
