Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm Builds relationships and collaborates effectively with internal providers, nursing staff, other hospital staff involved in patient care, and members of the referring community. Ensures all appropriate new patient documents are entered into the electronic medical record (EMR). Complies with all department policies, procedures, practices, and standards of care. Participates in orientation, in-service training, and staff meetings as scheduled. Secures patient confidentiality by protecting patient information on and off duty. Other duties as assigned. Completes related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or Director. Assists with coordination of activities related to insurance pre-certification and authorization. Connects patients with financial advocates and social workers if socioeconomic issues exist. Gathers necessary demographic, insurance, and clinical information from patients and enters it into the appropriate database. Seeks appropriate resources to resolve issues about the type, date, or location of patient appointments, ensuring oncology patients are scheduled within the targeted time. Obtains patients’ authorization, requests and verifies that all medical records, pathology slides, specimens, faxes, and other necessary items for the initial visit have arrived. Communicates with patients and caregivers as needed throughout the process.
