Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit is seeking a Registered Nurse for Oncology Infusion to lead coordination and delivery of compassionate patient care. You will use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology patients undergoing chemotherapy and infusion therapy.

The role emphasizes collaboration within the oncology team, adherence to safety protocols, accurate documentation, and patient education to support families navigating cancer treatment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
• Effective communication skills with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in coordinating and delivering compassionate patient care within the oncology infusion setting.
• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with focus on chemotherapy and infusion therapy protocols.
• Administer chemotherapy and other infusion medications according to established protocols, ensuring accurate dosing and patient safety.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions, side effects, and complications during and after infusion therapy.
• Manage and maintain venous access devices, including peripheral lines, PICC lines, and implanted ports.
• Delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching for patients and families.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to the oncology healthcare team.
• Provide patient education on treatment plans and symptom management.
• Participate in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and treatment outcomes.
• Maintain documentation of infusion therapy and nursing interventions in compliance with standards.
• Advocate for patient needs and provide emotional support.
