Job summary

American Oncology Network seeks an experienced registered nurse to provide safe and efficient patient care in an oncology setting. You will assess patients, review labs, verify doses, and administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care under provider orders.

You will educate patients and families, document in the EMR, and participate in triage, training, and meetings. ONS standards apply and travel to other sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: Nursing Degree.
• Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi-state license.
• Current CPR and BLS certifications.
• Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting.
• Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers.
• Follow Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines.
• Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
• Responsible for new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support.
• Thorough, accurate and timely documentation in EMR of treatment rendered, ensuring charges are captured.
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and planned treatment course.
• Telephone triage: prioritize and respond to calls from patients and providers in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventory, training of new employees, and compliance with JBIs.
