Job summary

The Oncology Infusion Pharmacist at Trinity Health Of New England’s Cancer Center in Hartford ensures safe preparation, verification, and dispensing of chemotherapy and related therapies in an ambulatory infusion setting, collaborating with oncologists, nurses, and pharmacy technicians to optimize patient outcomes and compliance.

The role requires PharmD or BS in Pharmacy with CT licensure; oncology experience and residency training (PGY1/PGY2) or BCOP eligibility are preferred; day shift,

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or B.S. in Pharmacy required.
• Active Connecticut pharmacist license required.
• Experience in oncology infusion pharmacy preferred.
• PGY1/PGY2 oncology residency preferred.
• BCOP or eligibility preferred.
• Strong knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive care agents, sterile compounding, and hazardous drug handling.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary oncology teams.
• Ability to care for adult and geriatric oncology patients.

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and prepare chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supportive care, and infusion medications per protocols and regulations.
• Evaluate orders for dosing, regimens, organ function, labs, and interactions.
• Verify chemotherapy calculations based on patient parameters.
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding.
• Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and others to resolve medication issues.
• Monitor for adverse reactions and communicate recommendations to the care team.
• Provide drug information and education on oncology therapies and infusion requirements.
• Maintain compliance with USP and hazardous drug handling standards.
• Participate in quality improvement and clinical programs.
