Job summary

Association of Community Cancer Centers is seeking an Oncology Infusion Pharmacist to ensure safe preparation, verification, and dispensing of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care medications in an ambulatory infusion setting.

The role collaborates with oncologists, APRNs, nurses, and pharmacy technicians to optimize outcomes, maintain compliance with USP standards, and support evidence-based cancer care across the care team.

Qualifications

  • PharmD or BS in Pharmacy required.
  • Active Pharmacist license in the State of Connecticut required.
  • Experience in oncology pharmacy, infusion services, or hospital pharmacy preferred.
  • Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 Oncology Residency preferred.
  • Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) preferred or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Strong knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive care agents, sterile compounding, and hazardous drug handling.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary oncology teams.
  • Ability to care for adult and geriatric oncology patients while delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered pharmaceutical care.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and prepare chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supportive care, and infusion medications in accordance with oncology protocols, USP standards, and state/federal regulations.
  • Evaluate medication orders for appropriate dosing, treatment regimens, organ function, laboratory values, allergies, drug interactions, and protocol compliance.
  • Verify chemotherapy calculations based on patient-specific parameters including diagnosis, body surface area (BSA), weight, and laboratory results.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians involved in sterile compounding and medication preparation to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related issues and optimize treatment plans.
  • Monitor for adverse drug reactions, toxicities, and therapy-related complications and communicate recommendations to the care team.
  • Provide drug information and education regarding oncology therapies, treatment protocols, supportive care medications, and infusion administration requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, hazardous drug handling standards, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical programs, and department projects that enhance patient safety and operational excellence.

Oncology Infusion Pharmacist

We are seeking an Oncology Infusion Pharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate, and effective preparation, verification, and dispensing of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic, and supportive care medications for oncology patients. This role collaborates closely with oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and pharmacy technicians to optimize patient outcomes, maintain regulatory compliance, and support evidence-based cancer care in an ambulatory infusion setting.
