Job summary

Connecticut Oncology Group, P.C. is seeking an experienced Infusion Nurse to provide safe, quality care to oncology patients through all treatment stages.

You will work with physicians to manage symptoms, administer chemotherapy and related therapies, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR. The role requires strong communication, organization, and empathy, with duties including IV starts, port access, specimen collection coordination, patient education, and cross-clinic travel between

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in Connecticut.
• Oncology nursing experience preferred.
• BSN degree preferred.
• Current BLS provider card.
• Minimum 3 years RN experience.
• Knowledge of cancer diagnosis/treatment and chemo administration.
• Ability to collaborate with health care team to personalize treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Review patient data before and during each visit.
• Collaborate with physician to assess and treat symptoms and disease progression.
• Perform telephone triage to assess patient concerns.
• Start peripheral IVs and manage venous access devices.
• Mix and administer chemotherapy and other drugs per standards.
• Administer and document chemo/biologic/targeted therapies and related studies.
• Document charges and ensure billing accuracy for services.
• Ensure timely collection of laboratory specimens.
• Manage prescription/refill extension requests per policy.
• Assist with provider procedures (bone marrow/skin biopsies).
• Educate patients and document readiness to learn during informed consent.
• Complete paperwork for patient assistance and insurance needs.
• Screen for distress and provide counseling/referrals.
• Navigate EMR effectively and document services.
• Stock inventory and manage supplies.
• Generate and review daily clinical reports.
• Travel to Middletown and Westbrook clinics as needed.
• Participate in committees and focus groups.
• Complete required training and competency validations.
• Perform duties accurately and responsibly.
