Piedmont Cancer Institute is hiring a Clinical Medical Assistant to participate in patient care for hematology/oncology patients. The role works within a multidisciplinary team under physician direction, providing patient care, documentation, education, and coordination of referrals.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, medication administration, and assisting with exams and procedures. Travel between PCI offices may be required; HIPAA and safety protocols are emphasized throughout.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in the Infusion Suite and Triage Department as assigned by Nurse Team Leaders and Clinical Managers.
• Performs patient assessments including vital signs, height, weight, allergies and medications, pain level and advance directive information.
• Administers medications (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous) per orders.
• Documents all patient interventions in real time using available software.
• Assists physicians or advanced practitioners with exams/procedures and responds to emergencies as directed.
• Educates patients and care partners on plan of care and provides psycho-social support.
• Coordinates referrals to support services and provides information to Revenue Cycle Management as needed.
• Maintains a safe, clean work environment and ensures time is managed effectively.
