Job summary

UC San Diego Health is a leading academic health system in the San Diego region. The role supports Epic Beacon and Research applications, focusing on oncology protocol builds in partnership with Moores Cancer Center.

You will collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and pharmacists to translate research requirements into functional Epic systems. The position offers a hybrid schedule, combining remote and onsite work at Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, with after-hours on-call duties and a dotted-line

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of related experience.
• Experience in information systems implementation, development, and support in a large healthcare setting.
• Strong problem-resolution skills with timely solution delivery.
• Excellent interpersonal, training, and collaboration with clinical users and IT.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks to completion.
• Clear written and verbal communication for diverse audiences.
• Ability to design tests, analyze performance data, and report findings.
• Ability to advise on change initiatives affecting clinical care and research processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to design, build, testing, and implementation of oncology protocols within Epic Beacon.
• Translate protocol requirements into Epic system functionality with clinical stakeholders.
• Analyze oncology workflows and define IT solutions to improve integration and management.
• Document system specifications and implement changes from updates and new releases.
• Act as a technical resource for Epic Beacon and Epic Research builds.
• Develop SOPs to standardize processes and support knowledge transfer.
• Design and deliver training on Beacon/Research workflows for oncology staff.
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation to support critical issues.
• Collaborate with vendors, IT, clinical engineering, and departments for enhancements.
• Provide status updates and document project variances using approved tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
