Job description

The Chordoma Foundation is transforming the outlook for patients facing this rare and relentless cancer, bringing real hope to our passionate and tight-knit community. In the past decade, our Patient Navigation Service has supported more than 5,000 chordoma patients and their families across 127 countries, while our research initiatives have sparked more than a dozen clinical trials and led to the first drug therapies with meaningful benefit for chordoma patients.

Because of our progress, patients with advanced chordoma now have more clinical trial and off-label therapy options than ever — but navigating these opportunities remains a major challenge. That’s where our new Clinical Trial Navigator comes in. While our existing Navigators address a broad range of needs, this role will focus exclusively on complex cases: patients who’ve exhausted standard treatments and urgently need high-touch, in-depth support to locate options that could extend their lives. In this position, your deep commitment to helping patients achieve the best outcomes will clear logistical hurdles to enrollment and ongoing participation. And because the success of every clinical trial depends on enrolling the right patients quickly, your efforts to boost participation will be critical to our efforts to transform the chordoma treatment landscape.

OVERVIEW

  • New, full-time position
  • Fully remote — we do not expect to return to an in-person office setting
  • Occasional travel for team and community events (~3-4 times per year)
  • Reports to the Director of Patient Services

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support patients in understanding treatment options for advanced or metastatic chordoma, through clinical trials and off-label drug therapies.
  • Act as an expert resource on clinical trials for chordoma, partnering with patients to identify and compare clinical trial opportunities that align with their treatment goals.
  • Assist patients in assessing potential trial eligibility based on their medical history, connecting with trial sites, and effectively communicating with clinical trial teams.
  • Provide patients with information and support for insurance and health system approvals, helping them navigate coverage for off-label treatments and trial-related care.
  • Liaise with clinical trial sites and teams to build relationships, understand trial procedures and eligibility, and ensure seamless patient referrals and enrollment.
  • Identify and address barriers to clinical trial participation, including financial, housing, or travel assistance, and provide relevant resources to mitigate these challenges.
  • Manage the Foundation's financial assistance program for patients enrolled in eligible clinical trials.
  • Maintain the section of our website that helps patients understand drug therapy options and locate clinical trials.
  • Connect patients and caregivers to support resources as needed or requested, proactively identifying or developing new resources to address commonly seen needs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring proper documentation of patient interactions and referrals.
  • Stay informed about emerging research, new drug therapies, and changes in the treatment and clinical trial landscape relevant to chordoma patients.
  • Collaborate with our Research team and academic and industry collaborators to support the design and initiation of new clinical trials for chordoma, representing the needs and preferences of chordoma patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-year degree in a health, human services, or related field. BSN, RN, NP, or PA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an oncology clinical research setting involving investigational therapies.
  • A strong working knowledge of modern cancer treatment modalities.
  • In-depth understanding of clinical trial processes, clinical research coordination, and insurance approval processes. Understanding of health systems outside the U.S. is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple patient cases and projects simultaneously with extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to engage confidently with patients, caregivers, clinicians, and external partners.
  • Deep empathy and sensitivity, ensuring compassionate, patientcentered support.
  • Proactive, solutionoriented mindset with the agency to identify challenges, advocate for optimal treatment options, and drive results independently.
  • Upbeat attitude and prosocial approach to working with teammates and colleagues as well as a variety of external collaborators.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • 100% employer-sponsored health and dental insurance plans
  • Life, vision, and disability insurance
  • 401K account with company matching
  • 11 company holidays plus 20 days of annual paid time off
  • Eligibility for paid sabbaticals at 5 and 10 years of tenure
  • Support for professional development, learning, and skills building

In addition, you’ll enjoy:

  • A fully remote role with the ability to work from anywhere in the US
  • Substantial schedule flexibility
  • A highly nimble, efficient, and tech-enabled work environment
  • Personable, hard-working, and high-performing colleagues who are deeply committed to our day-to-day work, the people we serve, and each other
  • Genuine connections with the patients and families whose lives your work will touch

ABOUT US

At the Chordoma Foundation, we serve as an agent of change on behalf of those affected by chordoma, a rare bone cancer of the skull and spine. Our team helps patients and families facing this challenging disease get the care and support they need while we lead the search for better treatments. Additionally, through funding and driving high-impact research — including in our own laboratory — we’re bringing new treatment options to patients at an unparalleled pace. This has already culminated in more than a dozen new clinical trials, but our most impactful work lies ahead as we take on a larger role in treatment development, build the infrastructure needed to streamline future trials, and facilitate the first drug approvals for chordoma.
